ADOPTION POLICIES

Adoption Requirements

  • You must be at least 21 years of age
  • You must have the knowledge and consent of all adults living in the household
  • You must have approval from the owner of the residence (please provide copy of your lease or the Landlord’s phone number)
  • You must have valid ID with current address
  • You must understand that in the best interest of a kitten, we require all kittens to be adopted in pairs, unless there is a companion animal of a similar age in the home. (In some instances there are those better suited as an only kitten, or with an older cat. If so, this information will be listed in their profile.)

Adoption Process

  • Fill out and submit the Adoption Application form below. This information helps us best match the right cat with your home.
  • All applications will be reviewed, and references verified. This can take two to three business days.
  • Please understand that several applicants may be interested in the same cat, and he/she can only go into one home. For Cat’s Sake makes decisions with the best interest of the cat in mind. A decision to place the cat in another home in no way implies that your home would not be a wonderful home for one of our cats. We are merely trying to make the best decision for that particular cat.
  • Meet the cat/kitten and talk with an Adoption Coordinator. Please realize that the final decision to place the cat lies with For Cat’s Sake.
  • We expect our placements to be lifetime commitments. We understand that life changes do occur. If you must give up your adopted cat, you must return the cat to For Cat’s Sake.

Adoption Fees

Please Note: Additional pricing may apply for specialty breeds.

Cats 1 & a half years of age, and older $50.00 2 for $80.00
Cats 7 Months to 1 & a half years of age $80.00 2 for $140.00
Kittens under 7 Months of age $125.00 2 for $200.00

If two cats are adopted together to the same home, we will reduce the second adoption fee by 25%.

(Adoption Fee includes spay/neuter, microchip implant, age appropriate distemper vaccinations, dewormers, FeLV test, flea and ear mite treatment if necessary.)

Adopting a companion animal brings many rewards, but it also brings a new set of responsibilities. Every day you must provide nutritious food and fresh water; make time for exercise, training, and play. Your new companion should visit a veterinarian yearly for a physical examination. You must be prepared for an emergency and be able to provide medical treatment when needed. Finally, you will also be responsible for ensuring that your cat or kitten is properly licensed according to the laws in your community.

Seniors For Seniors

For Cat’s Sake believes that older animals make wonderful pets. Especially for senior citizens. Pets improve the quality of life and subsequently the elderly live longer with a pet. We believe that a senior pet for a senior citizen is winning combination! To promote this, we offer senior animals to seniors at a lower adoption fee. It is our goal to help cover the costs for our senior animals through donations, memberships, sponsorships and fundraising.

Cats 8 years and Up $25.00 for Seniors (58+)
